Busy week for Carolina Blue Design Group!

With Fletcher Parks and Rec’s Concert in the Park, featuring Johnny Cox and Project Cash rocking the rain from the clouds to an Open House event for Lelia Patterson Center, Our week is off to an amazing start. Today we enjoyed an early morning Coffee Club with FABA members: United Federal Credit Union, Mountain First and Asheville Savings Banks, Salon Blue Ridge, Rely Local Hendersonville, Town of Fletcher, Post Net South Asheville. Thank you First Restoration for lending us their gorgeous conference center.

Later this week we have more FABA and Henderson County Chamber events, Meetings with clients for SEO, Web Design, Magazine Layouts, Business Cards and more!

In production this week we have 2 websites, media kit design, 3D builds, Scripting and imaging, photo work & processing , business card designs, product label designs, and more!

Our Marketing Department is cooking up some more fun activities and campaigns for the coming months. In the wind Ive heard they have partnered up with our Multi-Media Design Department which can only mean one thing…..

This All-American home-town festival features a 5K run, Live entertainment which includes a magic show, music and more, Hundreds of venders, sponsors and street merchants as well as carnival style rides & games.

Carolina Blue Design Group featured a fun tent with cornhole, horseshoes and washer toss games. More importantly, the blizzard of bubbles was a MUST SEE event as 3 bubble makers blew over 12,000 bubbles a minute to cover the entire children’s play area in a shroud of soapy wonderful goodness!

Porter Ridge Pirates!

Since the team is has a big league spirit it was obvious that they needed a big league representation. Each child was individually photographed by a photographer on site at one of their games. The digital photos were then sent to our imaging department where each image was color corrected and backgrounds were removed. After our imaging team chose the proper image for each child, the players were composed into a bold formation that worked each boy’s stance and positioning. After the main player composition was set, a background was added and color corrected to match the lighting from the players’ shots. “Pirates” Typography was set, colored to match the logo on the team’s jersey and styled to stand out upon the stadium background. Finally shadows were added using a 3-D ground plane and ray tracing from a virtual team model based on the actual photo lighting. We estimated 3 different lighting sources which made for a realistic stadium-style lighting composition. The final image was brought together with a gentle color correction overlay to adjust saturation and overall mood.

A powerful image that instills the WOW-factor fitting of a championship baseball team!

49th Coon Dog Day – 2012 Coon Dog Day

Saturday, July 7th 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Don’t miss Saluda’s 49th Annual COON DOG DAY–a celebration for dogs and their people! Great food, live music, parade, crafts, street dance, and more. Come enjoy this homecoming event in downtown Saluda. What began as a chicken supper fundraiser for the local Coon Club has grown into an event that attracts over 10,000 people each year.

Jump start your morning with the Coon Dog Day 5K run through historic downtown and the surrounding tree-lined streets we all know and love. The run was a huge success last year, and we are looking to have an even larger turnout this year. We do need volunteers; so if you would be available the week before Coon Dog Day or the morning of the race from 6:30 until about 9:00 AM, please contact Monica. Volunteers get a free race t-shirt and lots of fun! Registration is open for the race, so go ahead and sign up now at go-greenevents.com/CoonDogDay5K and check out our Coon Dog Day 5K Facebook page for last year’s photos, race sponsors, and new information as it becomes available. We’ll see you on the course!

After your refreshing run, enjoy the rest of your day with the many local food and craft vendors and with live entertainment on the main stage beginning at 9:00AM and continuing until the end of the street dance at 11:00PM. The parade is a favorite every year and consists of mostly homemade floats, tractors, fire trucks, horses, motorcycles, dogs, and the reigning Coon Dog Royalty Court. The parade begins at 11:00AM and marches down Main Street for over an hour. Trophies are awarded for the best floats, and the Master of Ceremonies announces the floats as they go by. Food, craft, and local non-profit vendors are set up throughout town with a wide variety of handmade items and foods.

Parking for Coon Dog Day will be at the Party Place & Event Center (formerly Saluda Mountain Jamboree) at a cost of $10 per vehicle. The parking fee will include shuttle transportation for everyone in the vehicle to and from the festival. Don’t deal with traffic jams and parking issues, just park and relax on your old-timey trolley ride into downtown.
The Coon Club conducts their shows and contests at the school yard in the afternoon, and people gather for the night street dance, complete with square dancing for all ages. Come join us for a Saluda tradition!

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support Coon Dog Day, please contact Monica Pace at city hall 828-749-2581. Donations are used to help fund the entertainment for the day as well as the shuttle transportation provided.

If you are interested in participating in Coon Dog Day as a vendor, please email Monica at admin@cityofsaludanc.com and she will send you the Vendor Packet. There are plenty of spaces available for arts and crafts, and we would love to fill them with local artists and craftspeople. There are still a few food booths available as well, but they will fill up fast!

If you want to be in the Coon Dog Day parade, just show up at the intersection of Ozone Dr. and Thompson Rd/Louisiana Ave by 10:00 AM and an officer will get you lined up. There are no entry applications or fees. Businesses in Saluda are encouraged to enter and compete for some unique awards. The parade is a great way to promote your business at little cost and be involved in this community tradition.

All parents wishing to enter their children in the Coon Dog Day Royalty Contest may contact Monica to pre-register and to receive information about contest rules. All entries must be residents of the Saluda community. Winners will receive trophies, sashes, and crowns, in addition to having a special place in the front of the parade to wave to their royal subjects. It’s a fun experience, and you can create your own float or ride in style in a convertible car. Age categories start at birth and run up to 18 years old for royalty categories. Royalty is a fun project for kids, as they design their money jars and get out meeting people in the community. Looking forward to the new Royal Court!
