After you find your target audience, you should develop your logo/identity to match your product and your target audience. Blue and purple may be your favorite colors, but it may be doing your product a disservice. Your slogans, tags, packaging, advertisements and visual communication should always be clear and concise! The audience should know what your selling, why they need your product, why they should buy from you, and how much you are charging for this service. A strong message is your product’s best attribute!

After you have set up your branded message, plaster it all over online and in print! Regardless, word of mouth will always be your best advertising! Encourage your fan-sites to share your message with all of their friends and you can go Viral!

Feast or Famine

Fall Leaves Off the Deck Of My Office

Autumn Morning At The Office

Last week, in a lull of incoming photography projects, we did exercises in creative design. After my 15th logo design I began to wonder when our next assignment would arrive. As the week went on, wonder turned to worry, worry turned to anxiety. While we weren’t sitting idle, our income had come to a halt for a day or two.

I cant describe the feeling of not knowing where your next Design request is coming from… As I searched for peace of mind, I came across the name of a colleague who, years ago gave me some candid insight.

Its feast or famine!

You may have times where jobs flow like a river. But as long as you plan for it, you will be prepared for the dry spells that are sometimes, depending on market, inevitable.

How we prepare:

  1. Study! Stay up on constantly changing trends.
  2. Drill! Like any athlete, Creatives need to keep our skills fresh and sharp. If used correctly, fast design drills can make you money too!
  3. Organize! Clean up stray files, bookmarks
  4. Budget! Just because you’re making a mint today, conserve funds to make dry times seem less traumatic.
  5. Relax! If you just came out of a stressful deadline, take a day to restore your creative mind. A rested mind is a powerful mind!

Whether youre drowning in money or drowning in bills, take time to

reevaluate your plan and

take action!

2C the 4Cs in today’s business communications

Blue Sky Umbrella

Carolina Blue Design Group Umbrella

I really loved reading this article on LinkedIn today…

It took me back to Communication Arts class… Design should clearly communicate the intended message to the targeted audience through use of clean and concise imagery and well thought out copywriting… While it has always been our practice to incorporate the 4Ps, 8Cs… And all the other design principals into our layouts, the end result always seems to take on a personality of its own. I have done textbook layouts in a campaign of which i would swear would hit a home run… And nothing. Then there are the ads in which my love of artistic license takes over… After the proof is approved, i am astonished to see the high numbered results… Ive even “performed my job” while deleriously ill… After which i look at and think, who designed that? Certainly not me… But hey, it performed the best of the year! Ok… Go figure.
So yes, i believe a good designer should Always heed to the 4Cs and the basic design principals, but after 18 years in the art, I can say with confidence… a GREAT designer knows when to professionally deliver the fullest extent of their artistic license.

About Pets

We love our friends!

We also love animals!

Friend and Pet Owner

Choices and Directions

So when a friend of ours came to us with the idea of writing a benefit book for the animal shelters, I thought we would be failing her as a friend if we didn’t do all we could to help her out!

We are looking for
Dog & Cat Adoption Stories!!

I’m collaborating on a book of short stories about adopted dogs and cats. A portion of book sale proceeds will go to a local shelter. If you’ve adopted a dog or cat from a shelter or a rescue organization, and you are interested in submitting your story for consideration to be included in this book, please see the guidelines below.

  1. Create your own story. Write it as if you are talking to a friend about your pet. No need to worry about grammar or spelling. We will review and edit to fit within the perimeters of the book’s style and tone. Just tell us about you and your pet in your own words. We will contact you if we need more information.
  2. Your story should be between 500 and 1000 words in length.
  3. Gather 2 or 3 photos of your pet. (we’ll request these later on. Photos must be in .jpg format and high quality print.)
  4. Submit your story to: mypettale@gmail.com
  5. By submitting your story to us, you are giving us the authority to edit and publish your story in our print and e-book, along with the photos you provide.
  6.  If we choose to publish your story, we will contact you to let you know and we will gladly forward you final story for you to review for accuracy of facts.

Some questions to consider when writing your story are:

  1. Stats: adoption date, age of pet, from where did you adopt your pet?
  2. Pet’s background before coming to the shelter?
  3. How did you decide on adopting your pet?
  4. Describe your first interaction with your pet.
  5. What is a good early story about your relationship with your pet?
  6. Does your pet have any really odd, quirky behaviors?
  7. Is there a moment of which you were most proud of your pet?
  8. What is an interesting story about an experience your pet had?
  9. What are some of your greatest challenges with your pet?
  10. What makes your pet special?
  11. How has your pet exceeded your expectations?
  12. How have you changed the life of your pet?
  13. How has your pet changed you?

If you would like more information on how you can contribute a story or photo to the book, please drop us an e-mail .
